Nathan Alexander "Alex" Bickley was born in Abilene,
Texas in 1919. After graduating from The University of Texas law school
and serving in the U.S. Navy during WWII, he returned to his hometown,
eventually becoming Abilene's City Attorney. Bickley became first
assistant city attorney of the City of Dallas in 1958, under City Attorney
Henry Kucera. When Kucera retired in 1965, Bickley became Dallas
City Attorney, and remained there until 1976. He went on
to serve as executive vice president of the Dallas Citizens Council,
until he returned to private practice of law in 1985. During his
lifetime, Alex Bickley served as president or board member of various
state and national law organizations, and was active in the local
community as well. He passed away on October 3, 2008, at the age
of ninety.
