Collection consists of three annnual reports and one survey report on the state of services of the Dallas City-County Hospital System.

The Dallas County, Texas based hospital now known as Parkland Health & Hospital System originated in 1872 at the intersection of Wood and Houston Streets as the first permanent hospital in Dallas to care for indigent patients. The City of Dallas and Dallas County jointly contributed land and facilities over many years, culminating in a bond program presented to Dallas voters in 1893, approving $40,000 for a new hospital on 17 acres just outside the city limits at the intersection of Maple and Oak Lawn avenues. The Dallas City - County Hospital System was officially founded in 1936 after passage of a state law authorizing incorporation of two tax-supported institutions - the general city hospital (Parkland) and the Convalescent Home in Hutchins. It also established a third hospital, Woodlawn, for the care of tuberculosis patients. On December 23, 1954, Dallas County voters approved creation of the Dallas County Hospital District, creating a seprate entity and eliminating the funding and governance functions split between the City of Dallas and Dallas County for 82 years.
