Scope and Contents

The collection consists of a research paper analyzing the effects of the 1965 Voting Rights Act on Texas elections.  

Prepared by Assistant City Attorney Analeslie Muncy for presentation at the 48th Annual Meeting of the Texas City Attorneys Association in 1975, this paper entitled "An Introduction to the Voting Rights Act for City Attorneys in Texas", analyzes the relationship between the 1965 Voting Rights Act and the 1975 amendments to the Act. Focusing primarily on Sections 4 and 5 of the Act, it is intended to be an introduction to the Voting Rights Act and its effects on Texas elections for city attorneys in Texas.
