Scope and Contents

The collection consists of a contract between the City of Dallas and Southern Methodist University allowing the university to connect to municipal sewer lines.

Southern Methodist University (SMU) was established in Dallas in 1911 by the five Annual Conferences of The Methodist Episcopal Church, South in Texas.  Classes were first held in 1915.  SMU is a private, coeducational university whose main campus is located in University Park, Texas, with additional campuses located in Plano, Texas and Taos, New Mexico.  In 2008, SMU was selected as the location for the George W. Bush Presidential Library and the George W. Bush Policy Center.
